WRITING AND PRODUCING CREDITS

AMERICAN DAD!

Integrated Cheverolet Ad Placement

I wrote an integrated Chevrolet brand placement for the Fox animated comedy American Dad! for one of my episodes, crafting a story-driven moment that highlighted the car’s features while staying true to the show’s comedic voice. The integration blended seamlessly into the narrative, delivering the utility the brand needed without disrupting the jokes or pacing, demonstrating my ability to execute character-based comedy and marketing objectives simultaneously.

About Jonathan

I’m a professional TV writer, producer, show creator, and showrunner with over 25 years of experience making some of your favorite and not-so-favorite shows.

I’ve made hundreds of hours of TV, either on my own or leading a team. I’ve done and seen it all. I’m seasoned.

I have now transferred my extensive creative and project management skills into copywriting, advertising, marketing, and script and concept development for brand videos and commercials.

I am and will always be a storyteller, whether it’s for half-hour comedies or thirty-second ads. It’s what I was born to do. That and fish.

But that doesn’t pay too well. So I do this.

COMEDY REEL

These are various clips from shows I’ve written and produced. This reel includes work from NBC, FOX, ABC, Netflix, Paramount, Hulu, Disney, and DreamWorks.

Jonathan Fener has been a TV and feature writer, producer, and show runner for over 25 years. His professional experience includes pitching, developing, writing, and supervising every single aspect of the production of hundreds of hours of television from logline to post-production.

Some backstory: after getting his BA in English and Creative Writing from USC, Jon got his first TV writing job on NBC’s “Veronica’s Closet”, where he worked closely with the creators of “Friends” and also worked with his first true diva, Kirstie Alley. Over the next two decades, Jonathan wrote and produced many other shows, including Bette Midler’s eponymous sitcom ‘Bette” (second diva experience!), NBC’s first CGI-animated half-hour comedy “Father of the Pride”, Fox’s “American Dad” (six seasons), ABC’s “Happy Endings”, Fox’s “Mulaney” (starring comedian John Mulaney), Hulu’s “The Mindy Project” (third diva experience!), and ABC’s “American Housewife.”

During that time, he also developed and produced TV pilots for NBC, CBS, ABC, and Fox, including the Fox animated project “Rancho Cucamonga” with producer Lorne Michaels and the NBC comedy “Old Soul”, co-written with Amy Poehler, starring Natasha Lyonne.

Jonathan has also supervised and/or was a show runner on TV series for ABC, Fox, NBC, and the “iCarly” reboot at Paramount+. He also wrote and produced two “Trolls” holiday specials for DreamWorks on Netflix.

In addition to his TV experience, Jonathan has also written feature films for Lionsgate, MGM, Universal, and DreamWorks, a sports video game for SONY, and the Academy Awards.
